Garfield, New Jersey

The River Drive Project encompasses the expansion of River Drive in Garfield, NJ and the creation of a one-mile riverfront park along the Passaic River.  This riverfront park project includes a new retaining wall that affords a significantly increased area in which to create a linear open space.  The new park features an 8-foot wide pedestrian and bicycle pathway, children’s play area, landforms, tree and shrub plantings, gathering plazas, site lighting, and new monuments.  The site also includes elements for improved stormwater management that will reduce the amount of water entering storm drains that empty into the river.

This much needed riverfront park extends from Outwater Lane to Kipp Avenue, with potential in the future to extend in both directions into an even more robust riverfront greenway and park system.
